Great things in CBA - March 2011
- Adjunct professor, George Morgan, was featured in the March 4 edition of the Midlands Business Journal. The article addressed the economic outlook for this year. Professor Morgan was also quoted in the article, “Students learning real-world money management with actual, virtual investing,” which also featured CBA students from the Maverick Investment Club, Eric Burns and Omar Vargas.
- The following students will be recognized at the 2011 UNO Student Honors Convocation: Jennifer Chrisinger, Entrepreneurship; Nicholas Jasa, Business Finance; Emily Kirkland, Management; Katherine Knight, Human Resource Management; Muzaffarjon Mahsudov, Banking and Financial Markets; Katie Nath, Marketing; Nishtha Rajbhandari, Accounting; Omar Vargas, Investment Science and Portfolio Management; and Andrew Taylor, Economics and the Dean’s Award.
- Bob Bernier, Director of the Nebraska Business Development Center, received a $653,471.68 award from Dawnbreaker, Inc. Congratulations Bob!
- Drs. Robert Briggs and Roni Reiter-Palmon from the Center for Collaboration Science received a $25,179 award from Dogs to Stars Enterprises (DTSE).

- Jonna Holland, Associate Professor in the Marketing and Management Department, was quoted in the March 24 issue of the Omaha World Herald. The article titled, “Costs Take a Bite Out of ConAgra Profits,” discussed consumer behavior and the increase of food prices.
- Dean Louis Pol has been invited to discuss CBA’s sustainability program in June at the 2011 AACSB-International Sustainability Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. The session will focus on building a sustainable campus.
- Libby Davis, adjunct professor, was named the MBA Professor of the Year at this year’s CBA Honors and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 31.
- A February 27 issue of the Omaha World Herald quoted George Morgan in an article about Warren Buffett. The article was titled, “’Trigger Finger is Itchy,’ Buffett says.”
- The Phi Delta Kappa 2011 Outstanding Community Education Leadership Award was presented to the UNO Center for Economic Education given in recognition of leadership and service to Nebraska. It was given to James Dick and CBA’s Mary Lynn Reiser at the organization's annual meeting of the UNO and UNL chapters of Phi Delta Kappa, an international education organization.
- CBA’s Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) has been conducting an international business simulation contest. Out of 25 teams, UNO's CEO placed 10th and 6th. The 6th place team is now participating in the final round to win prizes of over $1,000 and international recognition. Wish them luck!
- Dr. Jennifer Blaskovich received the 2011 Graduate Accounting Professor of the Year award at the 2011 CBA Honors and Awards Ceremony.
- Dr. Chris Decker, Professor of Economics, has been promoted to Full Professor.
- The Commercial Real Estate Workshop (CREW) will be inducting Dr. Roger Sindt into their Hall of Fame on Friday, April 8.
