Management has the responsibility to lead, develop, sustain and continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization’s goal achievements. Managers direct human, financial, physical, and information resources in workplaces faced with pluralism, globalization, unparalleled opportunities and unprecedented uncertainty. In this dynamic environment managers work to satisfy evolving customer and employee expectations while increasing the influence of the firm among key constituencies.
Every aspect of business has a management component, giving managers an optimal degree of flexibility and control over career opportunities. All Management majors must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours within the specialization.
Marketing is responsible for acquiring, satisfying, and retaining customers by building and maintaining mutually-beneficial long-term relationships with target customers. Marketing professionals understand: (1) Who are our customers? (2) what are their needs? and (3) how can we satisfy their needs better than our competitors? (4) while meeting the firm’s goals for revenue, profitability and market share. Marketers are charged with analyzing and predicting the influence of external environmental factors on customers, competition, and costs. All Marketing majors must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours within the specialization.

General Management:
The general management option provides students with opportunities to develop the technical, interpersonal, conceptual, diagnostic, communication and decision-making skills to effectively carry out management functions. The general management option is designed with the flexibility to permit students to select management courses to meet their specific interests and needs as managers of the future.

Entrepreneurship:
The entrepreneurship option is for students who are interested in owning and/or operating a business venture. Students who are interested in serving entrepreneurial ventures in capacities such as consultants, bankers, accountants, marketing professionals, or real estate specialists may also have an interest in this option. The entrepreneurship option has a practical emphasis designed to assist students in developing and operating their new and/or small ventures. Courses in this option lead students through the different processes of getting into business, address important operating issues relevant to the running of day-to-day activities of a venture, and discusses the important topic of planning for business growth and development.

The human resource management specialization is for students who desire an educational experience focusing on the human resource management functions of an organization. These functions include workforce staffing (recruitment and selection), talent development (training and development), performance management, total rewards (compensation and benefits), employee and labor relations, and strategic human resource planning.

Students who want a professional career in advertising find this program excellent preparation. Career opportunities include advertising agencies, advertising department of manufacturers and retailers, television and radio sales departments, as well as the advertising departments of banks, insurance companies, stock brokerages, and transportation companies.
