Master of Accounting
Comprehensive Examination Procedures
Within the first two weeks of the fall, spring, or first summer day session, a MAcc student who plans on graduating in December, May or August respectively must fill out a MAcc comprehensive examination application.
Copies of the completed MAcc Comprehensive Examination application form will be made and given to each MAcc accounting instructor the student had or is taking in his/her final semester.
Each such accounting instructor has two weeks to prepare five questions regarding the course the examination applicant took from the instructor.
In the fifth week of classes in the fall and spring semesters and by the end of June in the summer, the student will be given a list of all the questions submitted by the MAcc accounting instructors.
In the fifth week of the semester, the student should schedule his/her comprehensive examination.
The MAcc comprehensive examination will be approximately one hour in length and must be completed at least three weeks before commencement. A panel of MAcc accounting faculty will ask the student a minimum of three questions from the list of questions prepared for the student.
The director of the MAcc Program will communicate the results of the Comprehensive Examination to the Graduate Studies Office at least two weeks before commencement.
If a student fails the comprehensive examination, the MAcc faculty will inform the student of areas of deficiency, and the student will reapply for the next regularly scheduled comprehensive examination. A student will be expelled from the program if he/she fails the comprehensive examination twice. This expulsion is not appealable.
