CPA Firm Demand: The AICPA's 2008 Trends survey also indicates that CPA firms had 83% more new hires in the 2006-2007 than in the 2003-2004 academic year, and all but the smallest firms are increasing the percentage of hires holding Master's degrees.

CPA license/exam education requirements: According to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), "48 boards of accountancy require candidates to earn 150 hours of education for licensure," and most of these require candidates to earn these hours before they sit for the CPA Exam. (See NASBA's jurisdiction map for more specific information.)
