Teaching
Professor Lin teaches Microeconomic Theory, Quantitative Applications in Economics and Business, International Economic Development, and principles of Economics. Beyond these courses, his teaching interests include mathematical economics, development economics, and managerial economics.
Research
Professor Lin's areas of research interest are public finance, economic growth, and Chinese economy. His research has been published in Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Public Economics, Economic Inquiry, Economics Letter, Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Population Economics, Journal of International Money and Finance, Public Finance, International Tax and Public Finance, Southern Economic Journal, Public Finance Review, Review of International Economics, Pacific Economic Review, Japanese Economic Review, and China Journal of Finance, among others.

He has served as a reviewer for publications such as Journal of Comparative Economics, Economic Inquiry, Journal of Population Economics, Journal of International Money and Finance, Canadian Journal of Economics, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, International Tax and Public Finance, Review of International Economics, Pacific Economic Review, Japanese Economic Review, China: An International Journal (Editorial Board member), China Journal of Economic Theory (Editorial Board member), and Third World Studies and Review (Editorial Board member).
Service
Professor Lin serves as President of Chinese Economists Society (CES) (2002/2003), Chair of Organization Committee of the CES Annual Conference at the University of Michigan (2003), Chair of Organization Committee of the CES Conference in Beijing (2004), and has served on a number of college and university-wide committees and councils. In 2003, Dr. Lin was awarded the College of Business Administration Dean's Citation for Excellence in Service.
