James R. Jones

Teaching
Ph.D. (University of Nebraska - Lincoln) Professor Jones teaches in the undergraduate and MBA programs, including courses in human resource management (Human Resource Management, Seminar in Human Resource Management), general management (Management), and organizational behavior (Managing Performance in Organizations).

Research
Jones's research interests include individual difference variables, personality traits, employee engagement, employee stress, organizational citizenship behavior, feedback-seeking behavior, and ethics. His work has been published in The Journal of Applied Psychology, The Journal of Organizational Behavior, The Journal of Managerial Issues, The Journal of Leadership & Organizational Studies, and The Oklahoma City University Law Review. He was awarded the 2003 Cason Hall Publishers Award for Best Paper in the Careers Division at the Midwest Academy of Management meetings. Dr. Jones serves as a reviewer for the Academy of Management and the Midwest Academy of Management.

Service
Dr. Jones is a member of the Academy of Management, Midwest Academy of Management, Society for Human Resource Management, and Human Resource Association of the Midlands. He has served as the State College Relations Co-Director for the Society for Human Resource Management Nebraska Chapter, statistical consultant to Right Associates Human Resources Practices Benchmarking Project, Assessor for the City of Omaha Fire Captain Promotion Board, and on a number of university-wide and college-wide committees and councils.

Before joining UNO, Doctor Jones was a Human Resources Analyst for the Gallup Organization, and a Human Resources Specialist and Special Projects Coordinator at Baker's Supermarkets in Omaha, NE.
