Teaching
PhD (University of Illinois - Champaign) Professor Wohar teaches a wide variety of courses at both the graduate, undergraduate, and executive levels. His teaching interests include macroeconomics, international finance, monetary theory and central bank behavior, fiscal theory, and statistical analysis.
Research
Dr. Wohar's research interests include applied econometrics, macroeconomics, international economics and international finance, financial and monetary economics, financial institutions and monetary theory, financial economics and asset pricing.
Professor Wohar has received numerous awards for research excellence, including UNO's 1993 University Award for Distinguish Research or Creative Activity, the 1995, 1999, 2002 and 2003 College of Business Administration Dean's Citation in Recognition of Excellence in Research. He was the first recipient of the College of Business Administration Research Fellowship Award for distinguished research in 1994, and received the award for a second time the following year (1995). His research has been widely cited by in over 195 papers. He and co-authors received the Vernon Zimmerman Best Paper Award at the 13th Asian-Pacific Conference on International Accounting Issues in 2001. One of his articles is ranked 11th in the top 25 requested papers in 2002 Journal of International Economics. The number of requests for his papers exceeds 1100, according to the Social Science Research Network, placing him in the top 20 percent.
Dr. Wohar's research has been published in 70 refereed economic and financial journals, and he has reviewed research for 50 different journals in the areas of economics and finance. Dr. Wohar has editorial responsibilities for four different journals and has reviewed manuscripts about a vast array of economic and financial issues for textbook publishers.
Service
Professor Wohar is a member of over 20 professional and honorary associations and organizations. He has directed fifteen master's theses, and is a current participant in the "Livingston Survey" and a past participant in the "Forbes/Bridge Consensus Economic Forecast". These surveys of business executives and academic economists are conducted by Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and Forbes Magazine, respectively, to provide forecasts of economic variables.
Dr. Wohar has passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Exam.
