Program Director, Dr. Shuanglin Lin
Noddle Distinguished Professor, Department of Economics

Professor Lin has been President of the Chinese Economists Society. He has organized four high-profile international conferences on the Chinese economy, and has published ten books and numerous articles on Chinese economic reform. Professor Lin serves on the editorial boards of three academic journals, China Economic Review (Elsevier), China--An International Journal (World Scientific), East Asian Policy. He has met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, discussing China’s private enterprise development and tax reforms.



Faculty Affiliate, Dr. Catherine Y. Co
Ward Y. and George T. Lindley Professor, Department of Economics

Professor Co is an international trade economist with extensive publications related to trade, foreign direct investment, and innovation activities. Professor Co has a forthcoming publication related to China’s pollution challenges, and has recently completed projects studying Chinese international economic cooperation investment activities and US trade with the China region. Her current China-related projects include China’s outward global engagement (exports, overseas foreign direct investment, and economic cooperation) and US-China agricultural trade.



Faculty Affiliate, Dr. Jinlan Ni
Assistant Professor, Department of Economics

Professor Ni works primarily in financial economics and applied microeconomics of the Chinese economy. Professor Ni has published a paper and currently works on the capital structure of Chinese listed companies. She also has a book chapter on recent financial developments in the Beida Economics Book Series from Peking University Press. Professor Ni studies energy efficiency issues in China and has a forthcoming publication on Chinese provincial energy efficiency. Her other research include minimum wage in China, urban development and productivity, and China’s outward global engagement.



Faculty Affiliate, Dr. Wei Rowe
Associate Professor, Department of Finance

Professor Rowe is a financial economist. Her research on China and financial markets has been published at top journals such as Journal of Financial Markets, Financial Review, and China Economic Review. Her recent research, which was published in two books and at the China Economic Review, the authoritative academic publication on Chinese Economy, is about the profitability of China’s state owned enterprises. Professor Rowe spent much of her professional leave for the 2007-2008 academic year in China. She partnered with researchers at the China Academy of Science and worked on several timely research projects which include establishing China’s credit scoring system, conducting bank customer attrition analysis for China’s largest bank, China Industrial and Commercial Bank (ICBC). She presented her recent paper on board governance and profitability of Chinese banks at the 2009 Chinese Economist Society Annual conference June 2009. Her paper has received strong interests from both academics and bankers at domestic and foreign banks in China. Her high-quality research on China has earned her the honor to be a guest editor co-editing a special issue for the China Economic Review. She is also invited to be the guest editor for a special issue on Banks in China at the Journal of Corporate Governance and Control. In addition to academic research, Professor Rowe actively serves local businesses assisting their export efforts to China. She hosts Chinese visiting doctoral students and visiting scholars from time to time. She has been invited to speak at several universities and research institutes in China on various issues.



Faculty Affiliate, Dr. Louis Pol
Dean, College of Business Administration

Dean Pol is a demographer and has published extensively on demographic applications in health care, business, and housing. His book, The Demography of Health and Health Care, was translated into Chinese by the Peking University Press. He has delivered a distinguished lecture at the Beijing Forum organized by the Beijing Government and Peking University, and has been invited to conduct collaborative research with the Population Research Center at Peking University.
