Professor Wei's research focuses mainly on China’s energy efficiency. He has published seven papers at top Chinese journals. Professor Wei is also currently affiliated with three national foundations in China. Since 2007, he has collaborated with Professor Jinlan Ni and they have published one paper in an international journal; this paper won the Gregory Chow Best Paper Award at the 2009 Chinese Economists Society conference. Professor Wei's current research includes an international comparison of countries' energy efficiency and the connection between energy efficiency and carbon dioxide emissions in China.
