Economists are employed by private business, financial institutions, government at all levels, educational institutions, not-for profit organizations, and research institutions.
Economists forecast future revenues and costs and analyze competitive market conditions for businesses.
Economists make recommendations involving capital investments, marketing of new products, health care financing, and the effects of government regulation on businesses.
Economists do cost/benefit analysis studies of proposed legislation and public-sector projects, and give advice to local, state, and federal politicians.
