CBA Reaches A Milestone: Accreditation
The College of Business Administration achieved AACSB accreditation in 1965. At that time, only 120 out of over 600 colleges of business shared this distinction. Following receipt of AACSB accreditation, CBA initiated a two-year MBA program that had been in the planning stage for over five years. The program was to be taught in the evenings at first. Dean Lucas was named chairman of the MBA program. He wrote in his 1966 report: "This new program will give the College an additional avenue of communication and cooperation with industry in Omaha, especially middle managers.
The College made a significant organizational change by transferring the Department of Secretarial Science to the College of Education. Other changes were made in curriculum to further satisfy AASCB standards. One was to combine Personnel Management and Industrial Management into a single program in Management. The focus of these curriculum changes was to avoid course fragmentation.
