Larry Trussell Becomes Dean

Chancellor Weber acceded to the committee's favorable recommendation regarding Dr. Trussell and in 1979, Larry Trussell became dean of CBA. He served in that capacity until 1991, at which time he elected to resume teaching in the Accounting Department. In addition to his teaching he accepted the additional assignment to direct the College's program of international activities.

Dean Trussell continued the rapid pace of development and growth of the college instituted by Dean Muse. In May of 1981, the MBA program of the college received accreditation by the AACSB. At that time it was estimated that of all the graduate programs in business administration in the United States, only 30% were accredited by the AACSB. To achieve accreditation, schools had to meet standards in seven areas: overall objectives of the school, admission policies and practices, faculty qualifications, curriculum, student requirements, library facilities, physical resource facilities and research support, and innovative educational efforts.

Several other noteworthy developments occurred in 1981. The College's accounting program received Regental approval to offer a Master of Professional Accounting degree which could provided many opportunities for accounting professionals in the area. Dean Trussell resigned his decanal office in 1991 to devote more time to teaching and top help the college expand its international involvement.
