CBA Furthers It's International Involvement

Dr. Trussell and the dean of International Studies, Tom Goutierre, spent two week in Europe during 1991 to locate a country that could utilize specialized faculty from UNO. They decided that the best route for the university would be to seek a funding grant for a nation that would not be high on the list of competition by other universities. They realized that competition would be high for countries such as Czechoslovakia, and probably low for Romania. Fortunately for UNO, a Fulbright scholar from Romania was teaching at the University of Alabama at that time and was invited to come to UNO to assist in the preparation of a grant proposal for CBA to establish a teaching and consulting program in Ia_i (pronounced Yash and rhymes with wash), Romania. Since that time, CBA has had over $1 million worth of grants to work in Europe. Dean Trussell 's efforts did much to bring the CBA to the fore in international studies.

Today, however, possibly because of University funding problems change in college leadership, there is been little administrative involvement toward continuation of interest in the international arena of education for business. Prior to CBA's involvement in Romania, other international teaching opportunities for the College's faculty existed. Through the UNO international program CBA faculty had teaching assignments in such countries as Afghanistan, Germany, Czechoslovakia. Without regard to a time interval, CBA faculty have also undertaking teaching and consulting projects in Australia, Japan, and China.
