A Dean For Business Is Named

The 1929 Catalog identified a Dean of the College of Commerce, Alexander J. Dunlap, B.S., LL.B, for the School of Commerce and Finance. He was joined on the faculty by several others with business specialization degrees, but there were too few faculty members to satisfy the needs of a growing student body. By this time, the School of Commerce and Finance had attracted an increasing number of students. While this indicated a degree of success for the school, it also posed a problem for the University since additional faculty were needed to satisfy the needs of this growing enrollment. University funds were limited. The strain on the institution's finances was such that University administrators sought state permission to seek Omaha voters' permission to allow the University of Omaha to become the Municipal University of Omaha.
