Dr. Armitage teaches in Moldova

Senior Fulbright Specialist Jack Armitage, professor of accounting at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, taught a class entitled “Advanced Audit” to students at the Academy of Economic Studies in Moldova (AESM). This class consisted of approximately 24 hours of class time and was conducted during the period October 17 – 31, 2008.

Advanced Audit is part of AESM’s master’s degree program in the department of Accounting and Audit. All students have completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting and many of the students work full time in accounting positions during the day.

The objective of the program is to prepare students for jobs in audit firms or for higher level accounting jobs in organizations. There were approximately 50 students in the class.

The course lectures were based on the International Standards of Audit issued by IFAC. These are the standards followed by most countries around the world. At the completion of the course, students were required to pass a final exam to receive credit for the class.
